Zac Harmon is a true disciple of the Farish Street blues sound and has returned to his musical roots after so many decades expressing an unbiased love for music. Harmon was Born and brought up in Jackson, Mississippi. Harmon developed his interest for music at his father's pharmacy on Farish during the 50's and 60's. There he absorbed the aura and sounds of the musician customers while developing his talents as a guitarist, organist and vocalist. Like many other artists, Harmon also honed those skills while playing at church.
Harmon started his musical career with stints as guitarist for Z.Z Hill, McKinley Mitchell, Dorothy Moore and Sam Myers. An important role was played by Sam along with Jesse Robinson and Mel Brown in Harmon's development. They skillfully guided his progress through the ups and downs of rock ‘n roll to the true blues. At the age of 16, he became a teacher at the local YMCA. He instructed young men such as Eddie Cotton to play church music.

Artist Biography - Zac Harmon

In 1980, Harmon moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. There he started working as a studio musician and began to make a name for himself as a writer/producer by crafting songs for such varied celebrities like The Whispers, Cherrelle, K.C. & Jo Jo, Karyn White, Freddie Jackson, Evelyn "Champagne" King, The Mississippi Mass Choir and Children's Choir, Alexander O'Neal and the O'Jays. He also received a Grammy nomination in 1994 for producing songs on the Mystical Truth album for "Black Uhuru".
Harmon finally decided to pursue his old dream of recording his first blues project while he was composing songs for a movie score and performing those songs in the studio. As a result, the exciting production was released with a name "Live at Babe & Ricky's Inn" in 2002. This proved to be an electrifying testimonial to the blues which featured eight completely original songs that truly incarnated the blues sound of Mississippi.
With the amazing sound of Blues and sponsored by the Southern California Blues Society of Los Angeles, Harmon and the Mid South Blues Revue carried on to be the continuous winner of The Blues Foundation's 2004 International Blues Challenge as "best unsigned blues band." after gaining so much of fame and trust of their fans, there was no looking back for Zac Harmon. Now he is on the way to the release of the latest CD, "The Blues According to Zacariah,". With this release, Harmon along with his band members, is regularly appearing at US festivals, signing to a booking agent and international tours to Canada and France, which comes under his short-term goals. He is determined man on a mission and he's here to stay. Regarding his long-term goals, Zac says, "I'm aiming very, very high. I want to be the next B.B. King. His demeanor is so gracious and he is so giving of himself. That's the kind of blues person I want to be. Not to necessary play the same kind of blues that he plays, but I want to be the same kind of individual that he is in terms of representing the blues. I have tunnel vision and I'm focused on that."
