The city of Ypsilanti is located in the state of Michigan, United States. Ypsilanti falls on the Washtenam County. According to the 2000 census, the population of the city stands at 22,362. The city is bordered by the Charter Township of Superior to it north and the Charter Township of Ypsilanti to its west, south and east.

Ypsilanti is also popular by its nicknames 'Ypsi' and 'Ypsitucky'. The city got its name from a hero in the Greek war of Independence, Demetrius Ypsilanti. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of 4.5 sq mi, which is 97.55% land. The famous Huron River flows through this city.

The city hosts a number of festivals, such as the Heritage Festival, the Elvis Festival, the Orphan Car Festival and the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Festival. All these festivals are hosted in the part pf city which is known as 'Depot Town'. The city is also home to the non-profit Riverside Arts Center. The Center was found in the year 1994 and comprises of a theater, an art gallery and some other meeting rooms and offices.

A popular tourist attraction is its historic district, which is the second largest in the state of Michigan.
