WWE Raw began as WWF Monday Night Raw back on January 1, 1993. This breakthrough program was the first weekly wrestling program to embrace the verve of a live audience of tens of thousands. The matches were live and the audiences' reactions were not accentuated with the magical technology of a soundstage.

As the WWF bought out the WCW and became WWE, Raw no longer had to compete with Monday Nitro and inserted a boost of superstar personas to usher in the 21st century. The new century introduced the entire McMahon family as heels. It seems that every superstar that has won the championship title has been at odds with Vince or has been his lackey. This has been one of the few storylines to endure the years.

WWE Raw History

In 2012, the early storylines revolve around the upcoming Royal Rumble. It appears CM Punk and Dolph Diggler are on a collision course to decide the ultimate champion. CM Punk is a wrestler known for his straight edge chanting and his Anaconda Vise. Dolph Diggler is an ambitious athlete with no shortage of confidence. ""Hi, I'm Dolph Diggler" has become a familiar refrain as he has forced his competition to heel and he emerges as the front runner to take out the straight edge champion.

Meanwhile, Kane has developed a bit of a case of the stalking for Jon Cena, a character desperately in need of a foil. Pitting the red, white, and blue against the little brother of the Undertaker seems a pretty good move. WWE Raw has the potential to ruin with the B storyline all year long. Elsewhere Booker T and the Big Show remain the dominant veterans and will be challenging for a title very soon.
