Wayne Hancock Tickets for Sale

Wayne was born on May 1, 1965, and right from childhood was exposed to music. He started composing songs when he was just 12 years old. Hancock began playing juke houses around Texas as a teenager, and at age 18 won an important talent competition, the ‘Wrangler Country Showdown'. However he was unable to cash on it as he had just joined the Marines. After leaving the military Hancock returned to Texas and started gigging wherever he could, working odd jobs on the side to help make ends meet.
Finally tired of just gigging around, Hancock shifted to West Dallas in 1993 and subsequently settled in the music Mecca of Austin. A year later he got a role in the musical theater production ‘Chippy'. Here he got the opportunity to perform along with progressive country legends Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, Robert Earl Keen, and Terry Allen.

Even though, it was small role, it gave Wayne exposure and subsequently he signed a recording deal with Texas indie label ‘Deja Disc'. His first album ‘Thunderstorms and Neon Signs' released in 1995 and produced by steel guitar star Lloyd Maines, was well accepted. Critics loved the album and the success of which caught the attention of the fairly larger indie ‘Ark 21'. The label signed Wayne and came out with his second album ‘That's What Daddy Wants' in 1997. The second album too got a positive response. His third album ‘Wild, Free & Reckless' which featured more traditional country instrumentation was also well accepted.

Wayne's popularity was on the rise, and he signed a recording deal with ‘Bloodshot Records'. In 2001, he came out with his album ‘A-Town Blues' which was followed by a limited edition EP ‘South Austin Sessions' the same year. His album ‘Swing Time' released in 2003 which was recorded live at the Continental Club in Austin was also well received. In 2006 he released yet another album ‘Tulsa' which was again produced by Lloyd Maines.

He not only enthralls his fans with honky-tonk but also with stomping rockabilly, Western swing, blues, and old-time country a la Jimmie Rodgers. Hancock's fondness for classic country sounds, matched with his strong dislike to the Nashville hit-making machine, earned him a passionate following among alternative country fans as well as a reasonable amount of critical acclaim.
