They recorded their second album, a 2-disc set, called The Black-Man's Burdon; it was released in 1970. An exhausted and capricious Burdon left the band halfway through their European tour. The band continued without him and returned to the studio to record their self-titled debut album in 1971. Later that same year, they recorded All Day Music. They released The World is a Ghetto in 1972. In 1973, they released Deliver the World, which included the hits "Gypsy Man" and a re-recording of "Me and Baby Brother." They released their album called Why Can't We Be Friends? in 1975, which included songs like "Low Rider" and the mocking title track. They released their album Galaxy, which was inspired by Star Wars, after a year-long hiatus. They continued to record albums like The Music Band in 1979, The Music Band 2 in 1980 and Outlaw in 1982. They went beyond racial and cultural barriers with their multi-ethnic lineup. Their diverse musical influences made the band a lasting influence. Even though their lyrics are socio-political, their music generally had a laid-back, California funk vibe to it. Their music has been sampled and recorded by various artists, like Janet Jackson, Korn and TLC. On February 8, 2008, Eric Burdon and War announced they would reunite for a one-tine-only concert on April 21 at the London Royal Albert Hall.

War is a 1970s multicultural American funk band from California. They're known for hit songs like "Low Rider," "Spill the Wine" and "Why Can't We Be Friends?" The band was started in 1969 and was the first, most successful musical crossovers bringing together elements of rock, funk, jazz, Latin music, R&B and reggae. They started as the Creators in 1962 when Howard E. Scott and Harold Brown founded it. After a few years, they added Charles Miller, B.B. Dickerson and Lonnie Jordan; Lee Oskar and Papa Dee Allen were also added later. In 1968, their name was changed to Nightshift because Brown worked nights at a steel yard; they also started performing with a football player and singer named Deacon Jones. The idea for War came from veteran record producer Jerry Goldstein ("My Boyfriend's Back," "Hang on Sloopy," "I Want Candy") and rock legend Eric Burdon, who was the ex-lead singer of top British band, The Animals. They started playing live shows at found themselves in front of sold-out audiences at once. Then they went into the studio to record their debut album Eric Burdon Declares "War."
