The U.S. Cellular Field is a baseball stadium located in Chicago, Illinois. The field is home to the Chicago White Sox of the American League. Formerly known as Comiskey Park, the venue was opened in the year 1991. Later the name was changed to U.S. Cellular Field in the year 2003 after U.S. Cellular purchased the naming rights for a price of 68 million dollars. Illinois Sports Facilities Authority owns the stadium. It was constructed for a whopping 167 million dollars. HOK Sport designed the stadium and it sports a bluegrass surface. The seating capacity has varied since the time of its inception. The stadium had a seating capacity of 44,321 spectators from the years 1991 to 2000, then it increased to 45,936 spectators in the year 2001-2002 and in the year 2003 the capacity was that of 47,098 seats. From the year 2004 till present the day it has a capacity of 40,615 seats. The stadium has undergone many makeovers in order to suit the present architectural trends. Renovations have cost up to a large amount of 118 million dollars from the years 2001 to 2006. It has 84 luxury suites, numerous “club seats” and several other facilities.

Other attraction includes a Fan Deck, Miller Lite Bullpen Sports Bar, Majestic Custom T-shirt Shop, the Patio, Rain Room and Jim Beam Club among others. Various sculptures can also be seen in the stadium that includes a Minnie Minoso Sculpture, Nellie Fox Sculpture, Charles Comiskey Sculpture and others. The first event at the stadium took place on April 18 of the year 1991. Since then several games/events have taken place in the stadium. The park played host to the 74th All-Star Game, where the American League defeated the National League. The first World Series game was conducted at the U.S. Cellular Field and the White Sox won over the Houston Astros. Ken Griffey Jr. made his White Sox debut on 5th August of the year 2008 against the Detroit Tigers.
