US Airways Center is a sports venue with location in Phoenix, Arizona. It was opened on June 1st 1992 and is the home of the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association, the Phoenix Mercury of the Women’s National Basketball Association, the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League, and the Phoenix Roadrunners of the ECHL.
The arena is located at 201 East Jefferson Street and is named after its sponsor’s name, US Airways. It was called America West Arena, but the name was changed in US Airways Center on November 14, 2005. A lot of sport events are played here: arena football, basketball, ice hockey, also concerts, professional wrestling, ice shows, and many other events. Capacity of this object is 18,422 for basketball and 16,210 for ice hockey.
The construction of US Airway Center began in 1988, and it was designed by Ellerbe Becket, with construction costs of $90 million USD. The US Airways Center is uniquely flexible indoor–outdoor venue, which features state of the art sound and projection systems, and a stylish bar area and possibilities for full stage shows. It leaves impression on the guests with the glass walls, the 12 x 20 foot video screen and over 14,000 square feet of indoor space.
