The Times Union Center for the Performing Arts is situated in Jacksonville, Florida. Constructed on the former location of the Civic Auditorium, the theater was inaugurated in the year 1997. The center is the home for three performance facilities that includes The Robert E. Jacoby Symphony Hall with a 1,800 spectator seating capacity. It is designed for non-amplified stage events. The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and the Jim and Jan Moran Theater are the other two. The latter one is designed for amplified performances and has a capacity of 3,000 seats. Violinists Pinchas Zukerman and Itzhak Perlman performed along with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra to unveil the Jim and Jan Moran Theater. Pianist Leon Bates, bassist Benjamin Matthews and soprano Eddye Pierce Young showcased their talent at the C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry Theater. Under the direction of Roger Nierenberg, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.

The theater has played hosts to several programs and is a popular venue with the masses. Upcoming shows include Carlos Mencia's performance in November of the year 2008. The following month of the same year will see Avenue Q perform in the theater. In February of the year 2009, Happy Days will showcase their talent. In March of the year 2009, the theater will play host to Fiddler On The Roof. Later in February, Riverdance will perform. In April of the year 2009, Wicked will showcase their talent in the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts. One has to follow certain rules at the theater's premises.
