The Great Western Forum has been replaced by the state of the art Los Angeles Staples Center in downtown. It is the new home to the Lakers, the Clippers (NBA), and the Kings (NHL). Of course all the celebrity fans who used to be a trademark of sports nights at that Inglewood arena also moved.
The Staples Center is a world-class venue for a world-class city. The Staples Center has a capacity of around 20,000 and 1200 monitors from which each event is broadcasted. It opened in 1999 at an estimated cost of $400 million. Not only is the Staples Center the home of the NBA's Lakers and Clippers, as well as the NHL's Kings and Arena Football's Avengers, it also hosts major concerts, skating events and even the 2000 Democratic National Convention. The Staples Center offers several choices when it comes to food and beverage, from McDonald's to the prestigious Premier Club (with annual dues of more than $10,000). Some say the only complaint is that the Staples Center’s offerings sometime overshadow the events themselves.
