Raymond James Stadium is a football and soccer stadium that is located at 4201 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa, Florida. It was inaugurated on 20th September, 1998, though the construction work began in the year 1996. A total of $168.5 million were spent in its construction. It was constructed with an aim to replace the aging Houlihan's Stadium, formerly located adjacent to the property. In the opening event, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Chicago Bears with a score of 27-15. It was initially known as the Tampa Community stadium. In June 1998, St. Petersburg-based Raymond James Financial purchased the naming rights for $32.5 million and gave the stadium its present name. In the year 2008 and 2009, the stadium also hosted the ACC Championship Game.
