Qwest Center - Venue Tickets, Schedules, Seating Charts, and Information

Qwest Center Omaha is located at 455 N 10th St in the NoDo neighborhood in Omaha, Nebraska. It is a multi-purpose arena and a convention center facility. It is used for hosting hockey and basketball games, professional wrestling events and also for various concerts. It was inaugurated in September 2003, though the construction work began in the year 2001. a total of $291 million were spent in its construction. The arena is currently owned by City of Omaha and is operated by Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority. The arena is also popularly known as "The Qwest", "The Riverfront Center", "The Omaha Convention Center & Arena". For hockey, the arena has a seating capacity for 16,680 spectators; for basketball, it can seat up to 17,560 people and for the concerts, it can accommodate 18,300 people. Initially it had a seating capacity of 17,000 for concerts, 15,500 for basketball, and 14,700 for hockey. But in the year 2006, $5.7 million were spent on the expansion of the arena which enhanced its seating capacity. The 1.1 million ft² facility has a 194,000-ft² exhibition hall and 62,000 ft² of meeting space.

The funds for the construction of the Center were raised from different sources. In the year 2000, the Omaha voters approved a $216 million bond issue and the remaining $75 million were provided by the private organizations and individuals. DLR Group, a national architecture and engineering firm designed the facility. Qwest Communications International, Inc., a large telecommunications carrier purchased the naming rights of the arena. The Qwest Center replaced the Omaha Civic Auditorium as the premier indoor arena in the city. Earlier the arena served as a home to the WWE Judgment Day 2008 pay-per-view. The Qwest Center also set up many NCAA records, especially in college volleyball. For instance, on 16th December, 2006, the largest crowd to watch an NCAA Women's Volleyball National Championship gathered here.
