Qualcomm Stadium - Venue Tickets, Schedules, Seating Charts, and Information

The Qualcomm Stadium is located at 9449 Friars Road, San Diego, California. Earlier it was also known as San Diego Stadium and Jack Murphy Stadium. It was inaugurated in the year 1967. it is currently owned and operated by the City of San Diego. A total of $27 million were spent in its construction. It is a multiple use stadium. Time and again the stadium has been renovated and the seating capacity has been improved. Presently for football, the stadium has a seating capacity for 71,294 spectators and for baseball it can accommodate 67,544 people. At present, the stadium serves as the home field to the San Diego Chargers of the NFL and of the San Diego State University Aztecs college football team. Every December, it plays a host to the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl and the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl college football games. Until 2003, it was the home of the San Diego Padres in baseball's National League.

Three Super Bowl games, Super Bowl XXII in the year 1988, Super Bowl XXXII in the year 1998 and Super Bowl XXXVII in the year 2003, were also held in the stadium. It also hosted the year 1978 and 1992 Major League Baseball All-Star Games. The year 1996 and 1998 National League Division Series, the 1984 and 1998 National League Championship Series, and the 1984 and 1998 World Series were also organized at this stadium. It is the only stadium where both the Super Bowl and the World Series were held in the same year i.e. in the year 1998. Transportation to the stadium is also not a problem as it is located immediately northwest of the interchange of Interstate 8 and Interstate 15. It is situated in the valley of the San Diego River and the surrounding area is known as the Mission Valley.
