The Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts is a performing complex located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The center has five venues. In 1939 was opened Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, the first venue in this center. In 2001 were built four others venues, Meymandi Concert Hall, A. J. Fletcher Opera Theater, Kennedy Theater and Lichtin Plaza. The Raleigh Memorial Auditorium has total capacity of 2,277 seats and usually hosts music theater production shows. Meymandi Concert Hall has total capacity of 1,777 seats and it is a home of the North Carolina Symphony.
A. J. Fletcher Opera Theater is often used for ensemble productions and has capacity of 600 seats. Kennedy Theater is a theater with capacity of 170 seats. Lichtin Plaza is feature fronting the Progress Energy Center often used for outdoor festivals, concerts and other public gatherings. The naming rights of this Center were purchased from the city in 2005 by the Progress Energy. Raleigh Memorial Auditorium is a home of the North Carolina Theatre. Great artist such as Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Toto and Roberta Peters were on the state of the art stage of this venue. Alcohol drinks are available at most events. Parking lots are available for the guests for a price of $7.00 per vehicle.
