Louisiana Superdome The Louisiana Superdome, is a large, multi-purpose sports and exhibition facility which is located at 1500 Poydras Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, opened on August 3, 1975, closed between September 3, 2005 and September 24, 2006, owned by Louisiana Stadium/Expo District, and operated by SMG. In 1967 it was designed by Curtis and Davis, the designers of the main branch of the New Orleans Public Library, the construction costs were $134 million and later in 2005-2006 $193 million for repairs. The capacity of the arena is 72,968 for football, 55,675 for basketball and 63,525 for baseball. Currently the Superdome is the home of the NFL's New Orleans Saints, and was the largest fixed domed structure in the world, until 1992, when the Georgia Dome in Atlanta was completed.

Due to political delays the stadium was not finished until August 1975, in time for the Super Bowl and the game had to be moved to Tulane Stadium and was played in cold and rainy conditions. During the 2003 football season the Superdome converted to a Fieldturf artificial grass surface, with the first game on FieldTurf played on November 16, 2003, and for the 2006 football season was installed a new FieldTurf surface, because the first one was damaged from Hurricane Katrina. There was a lot of major events at the arena such as the Green Wave Football, Super Bowl, BCS National Championship Game, the Final Four NCAA college basketball and few other events.
