Jobing.com Arena is a multi-purpose venue that is located in Glendale, Arizona. It is the official home to the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League. Earlier it played host to the Arizona Sting of the National Lacrosse League as well. The arena was built in the year 2003 at an estimated cost of 180 million dollars. It offers a seating capacity of 17,799 spectators for hockey and lacrosse. Jobing.com Arena is an integral venture of a much larger Westgate City Center development process, which will provide a hub for entertainment and retail sector around the arena. Recently a 320-room Renaissance Hotel and Conference Center was completed as a part of the project. Everyone was expecting that the Arena would gain the NHL All-Star Game for the year 2009 after losing the same in the year 2006 but the Montreal Canadiens and their arena Bell Center gained the proposal of hosting the 2009 All-Star Game leaving the Jobing.com Arena empty handed.
Under the new terms and conditions, the All-Star Game would not be held during the Winter Olympics as no player can take part in it. Philips Arena that is located in Atlanta lost the All-Star Game in the year 2005 because of the lockout. It was later awarded the All-Star Game in the year 2008. Beginning in the year 2005, Jobing.com Arena has played host to a lot of games like the Arizona state high school basketball, volleyball, wrestling and cheer leading tournaments in a mega-event called "February Frenzy", as a part of a formal collaboration that was held between the city of Glendale and the Arizona Interscholastic Association. The Arizona Sting later announced that they would not participate in the 2008 season and choose to get back to the National Lacrosse League for the year 2009.
