INVESCO Field at Mile High is a stadium that is situated in Denver, Colorado. It replaced the Mile High Stadium in the year 2001 and is famous as the home of the Denver Broncos of the NFL. A huge controversy followed as lots of people opposed the implementation of a corporate identity and wished to retain the previous name for the venue, "Mile High Stadium." The Denver Post initially refused to incorporate the use of the “INVESCO label” in the name and referred to it as its original name for many years. But later they changed their policy and added the name INVESCO to their articles.
Post columnist Woody Paige was responsible for creating a lot of controversy when he revealed the fact that officials of INVESCO referred to the stadium as "the Diaphragm," a satiric reference to its shape that is similar to a device that is used in birth-control exercise. Now the ground is primarily used to host football games only. It is home to the Denver Broncos, which is a Denver NFL team. It also plays host to the city's Major League Lacrosse team, the Denver Outlaws.
The stadium is very famous when it comes to hosting a college game. It has played host to a very famous rivalry game between the Colorado State Rams and the Colorado Buffaloes. “INVESCO Field at Mile High” is also well known for hosting several concerts and other shows. It was earlier the official home to the city's Major League Soccer franchise, the Colorado Rapids. A well-known tradition that was carried on from the original ground is called the "Incomplete Chant". At Bronco home games, when the team of the opposite side has an incomplete pass, the announcer will speak out loudly "And the pass is ..." to which the fans will respond IN-COM-PLETE!!!, then followed by a "caa caa caa caa" muted sound effect from a trumpet. Very Interesting. Right?
