The Gillette Stadium is located at 1, Patriot Place in Foxborough, Massachusetts. It was inaugurated in the year 2002, although the construction began on 24th March 2000. Robert Kraft, the Founder, Chairman and CEO of the Kraft Group is the present owner and operator of the Stadium. The stadium was initially known as CMGI Field but then Gillette bought the naming rights. A very well known architect, John Bolles designed the building. A total of $325 million were spent on its construction. The stadium has a seating capacity for 68,756 spectators. It is also equipped with 6,000 club seats and 87 luxury suites. At present, the stadium serves as the home field to the New England Patriots football team and the New England Revolution soccer team. A New England Revolution game was the first official opening event held at the stadium on 11th May 2002. Then the Rolling Stones played here during the Licks Tour on 5th September 2002. Four days later i.e. on 9th September, the stadium had its grand opening ceremonies. On 1st and 2nd August 2003, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the stadium in support of Springsteen's album, The Rising.

The stadium is furnished with Field Turf instead of natural grass. It was replaced because a rainstorm deteriorated the grass surface because of which the Patriots lost against the New York Jets on 14th November 2006. The stadium has two gray logos that represent the bridge and tower at the east entrance to the stadium. A number of notable games have been held at the stadium. For instance, it conducted the NFL's nationally televised primetime season-opening games in the year 2004 and 2005. The stadium also hosted the 2003 AFC Championship Game, in which the Patriots defeated the Indianapolis Colts 24-14. The year 2002 MLS Cup and four games of the year 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup were also held in this stadium.
