The Giants Stadium is located at 10, Murray Hill Parkway, East Rutherford, New Jersey in the Meadowlands Sports Complex. It is popularly also referred to as The Meadowlands. It was inaugurated on 10th October 1976. The stadium is owned and operated by New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority. The seating capacity of the stadium consists of 80,242 seats. Hence, it is the second largest NFL stadium, the first being the FedEx Field. It is also the ninth-oldest stadium used by an NFL team. At present it serves as the home field for the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants and the New York Jets football teams of the NFL and the Red Bull New York soccer team of MLS. The New York Jets played their first home game at this venue in the year 1977.

Earlier this stadium had been home to many other football teams as well like New Jersey Generals of the USFL; the New York/New Jersey Knights of the World League of American Football and the New York/New Jersey Hitmen of the XFL. A number of college football games have also been conducted in the stadium. It also hosted nine games of the 1994 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament. Some of the notable rock concerts held at the stadium include Madonna, U2, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, The Eagles, Grateful Dead, David Bowie, Dave Matthews Band, The Police, Depeche Mode, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Radiohead, Elton John, Genesis, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, Boston and Green Day. Bruce Springsteen, a popular American singer has graced the venue a number of times. In the year 1985 he performed here for six nights during his Born In The U.S.A Tour and for ten nights on his The Rising Tour in the year 2003.
