Ford Field is an indoor football stadium located on 2000 Brush Street, Detroit, Michigan and is the home of the Detroit Lions of the NFL. It was opened on August 24, 2002, owned by Detroit/Wayne County Stadium Authority and operated by Detroit Lions. The designer was SHG, Inc., Rossetti Architects and Hamilton Anderson Associates, Inc. and the construction costs were $430 million. The capacity of the arena is 65,000 for football and 78,000 for basketball and the naming rights were paid for over 20 years by Ford at $40 million. The stadium shares a likeness with Ford Center, which is a multipurpose sports and concert arena in downtown Oklahoma City.
The Ford Field allows a large amount of natural light to reach the playing field, and also the southwest corner provides the seating bowl and concourse with sunlight and offers fans a view of downtown Detroit. Ford Field hosted World Wrestling Entertainment's extravaganza WrestleMania 23 on April 1, 2007 with a record attendance of 80,103. On December 13, 2003, it hosted the largest crowd ever to attend a basketball game, 78,129 people, and on February 5, 2006 it hosted Super Bowl XL. It has also hosted the annual Mid-American Conference Championship Game since 2004. The Madonna's 2008 Sticky & Sweet Tour will be here on November 18 this year.
