Located in Detroit, Michigan, The Detroit Opera House is an opera performance arena. It is the place for all Michigan Opera Theater productions and other events. C. Howard Crane designed the opera house and it was inaugurated on 22nd January in the year 1922. He is the man who designed other Detroit theaters with perfection like the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Orchestra Hall and The Fillmore Detroit, Fox Theater. The Detroit Opera House is located at 1526, Broadway Street, Michigan and was earlier known as the Capitol Theater. This Opera House was among the first venues to be built around Detroit's Grand Circus Park. The theater is considered to be one of the largest performance venues in the world. It was the fifth - largest in the world that could accommodate up to 4,250 people. The name of the theater has been changed quite a few times. In the year 1929, the name was changed to the Paramount Theater. Later in the year 1934, it was again changed to the Broadway Capitol Theater.

Various talented and well-known artistes have performed in the opera house adding magic to the already beautiful theater. The artistes performances add to the charm and glitters up the whole venue. Beside other artistes Jazz legends Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong have also performed in the theater. Luciano Pavarotti also has performed in the venue. The theater was restored in the 1960s and it became the 3,367 seats Grand Circus Theater. The theater was however closed in the year 1978. It was reopened in the year 1981 but it again closed in the year 1985. The Detroit Opera House is the present name of the theater. After its renovation in the year 1996, the theater had a capacity of 2,700 seats. The Detroit Opera House has to its credit the hosting of five dance productions from touring companies, five opera productions and various other musical and comedy events.
