The Bell Center is located at 1260, Rue de la Gauchetière Ouest Montreal, Quebec. It was formerly known as the Molson Center and in French as Le Center Bell. The previous name was a reflection of a brewing company, Molson, Inc., which was the owner of the Canadiens at that time. Later Bell Canada, a major Canadian telecommunications company bought its naming rights and officially gave it its present name on 1st September 2002. It was inaugurated on 16th March 1996.
George N. Gillett Jr., a well-known American businessman is the present owner of the arena. A total of $270 million was spent in its construction. The center is a multi purpose arena used for hockey and theater. The seating capacity for hockey consists of 21,273 spectators and for theater; the seating capacity lies in between 5,000 to 9,000 seats.
