Bangor Auditorium Information and Schedule
Bangor Auditorium is the centerpiece of Bass Park, the cultural and entertainment center of Bangor, Maine. It is noted for both its vertical “V” shape and its towering statue of Paul Bunyan. The auditorium holds nearly 6,000 people. These people arrive with tickets to the Bangor Auditorium to watch concerts, a variety of sports, and traveling circuses. It also serves as a center for trade shows.
There is no telling what the future holds for Bangor Auditorium. The building has had an incredible run, opening in 1955 and hosting everything from rock stars to college Division 1A basketball to political rallies. The Cross Center is being built right next to the building and is expected to serve as the auditorium’s replacement. Some want to continue to use the venue for rallies, trade shows, and musical acts. Some want the building torn down. Until this is decided and construction on the new building is complete, the Bangor Arena will continue to stand and host cheer camps, the Harlem Globetrotters, and conventions.
Bass Park will likely find some use for the signature building, as the campus would not be the same without it. Hopefully, it is renovated and a good use is found. The building that has served the community for decades and it would be a shame to see it simply demolished.
