The Allstate Arena is a sports and is home to the DePaul University men's basketball, Chicago Wolves hockey club and the Chicago Rush Arena football team. It is originally named the Rosemont Horizon, and was intended to be the home of the WHA Chicago Cougars. The arena was opened on July 2, 1980 and the owner is the Village of Rosemont. The uncompleted East Wall of the Rosemont Horizon collapsed on August 13, 1979 and killed five construction workers. The arena holds the record for most consecutive World Wrestling Federation events from 1992 to 2005. It has hosted three WrestleManias and several other pay-per-view events. Also the arena hosted the Great Midwest Conference men’s basketball tournament and the NCAA basketball tournament three times. The floor at the Allstate Arena on December 14, 2003 was named Ray and Marge Meyer Court in honor of Meyer, who was coach of the DePaul Blue Demons and inductee of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The arena will host the first Ultimate Fighting Championship event in the state of Illinois, UFC 90 on October 25, 2008.
