Vans Warped Tour
The Vans Warped Tour is allegedly the largest festival tour currently running in North America, bringing the top names in modern punk such as Rancid, Andrew W.K., Sum 41, Dropkick Murphys, The Used, Pennywise, Less Than Jake and so many others, together on four stages. Showgoers also get to watch skateboarding tricks on the half-pipe that looms adjoining to the two main stages. The tour begins its cross-country trek in mid-June, making stops along the West Coast, and then continuing into the heart of the Midwest and wrapping up in New Jersey. Back in 1995, it seemed traveling musical circuses were the wave of the future, with something for everyone in Lollapalooza, Lilith Fair, H.O.R.D.E. and Smokin' Grooves. Over the next decade, however, each called it quits and other upstarts met the same fate. Ozzfest, which launched in 1996, and Warped have been the exceptions, though there are rumors that ticket sales for the former are down.
This incredible tour was enthusiastically created by Kevin Layman in 1994. Actually, Lyman got this idea while he was working on skateboarding shows such as Holiday Havoc, Vision Skate Escape, which included soothing music with skateboarding contests. This famous tour went international including some famous venues in Japan, Europe and Australia as well as the US. The tour started off in Australia and New Zealand in the New Year in 1999; then amazingly starting up again in the United States for the famous northern hemisphere summer before ending up in Europe. This tour is an incredible bonanza for music and brings many attraction including daring half pipes and ramps for skating and some incredible bikers. The blazing tour also features many cool booths creating a sort of flea-market like atmosphere, with a colored tent for each band along with some important and independent record labels, sponsors who are looking to market their brands and products and some non-profit organizations. Sponsors play a very vital role in the Vans Warped Tour and they provide subsidizes to many of the tours expenses. This mammoth event continues to prosper with each year, selling over 500,000 tickets a year. This event has been consistently outperforming similar events like the Ozzfest and H.O.R.D.E. So just get your tickets from your on-line ticket vendor and be there.

Artist Biography - Vans Warped Tour
|
Kevin Lyman, who launched the Vans Warped Tour after seeing the impact live music had at skateboarding exhibitions, has hit upon a method for attracting both fans and bands year in and year out. Layman added extreme sports and musical exhibits, including the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, featuring a full-on digital recording studio. His target audience is 15- to 17-year-olds and younger, kids who had never seen a live concert or been to a daylong music festival. The focus on a younger audience was intentional. A veteran of the concert scene, Layman had seen his share of punk concerts turn ugly, and he wanted none of that. Most of the time, he says, the ugliness is initiated by older teens "under the cover of darkness."
Bands have referred to Warped as "punk-rock summer camp" for years, probably because of the nightly barbeques and bonfires, along with other backstage activities. With all the musical bonding at Warped, it's easy to forget the tour also features skateboarding and other extreme sports shows. And then there's that other selling point.
Warped Tour is a sensational touring punk music that features extreme sports festival. This tremendously popular music has been sponsored by the skateboarding shoe manufacturer Vans. Vans has been sponsoring this tour every year since 1995. Thus this amazing tour is often referred to as the" Vans Warped Tour." In recent years, this mammoth Warped Tour has already featured over 100 power packed bands per show, each amazingly playing for just only 30 minutes over approximately ten electrifying and different stages. This tour relates to nearly every mainstream superb punk band that has already played the famous Warped Tour at some point in their long or short career. And this fact gives the tour a reputation for incredibly featuring up-and-coming sensational artists before they really hit the mainstream. There are some sizzling bands such as Limp Bizkit, The Suicide Machine, blink-182, No Doubt, Eminem and Papa Roach; these are few of those artists and bands who took part in the tour before becoming famous.
