His childhood was not normal like any other child as once he suggested that he was forcibly abused by his stepfather, when he was a child. After serving the army, he began writing songs. Soon, he began to search for the drummer and guitarist to form a band. Several came and went and then he found his neighbor Danny Carey, who was the drummer for another Zoo Records act. Bassist Paul D' Amour fills in to and gave it the ultimate shape. In 1992, band released Opiate, a seven-song EP full of extremely dark songs. In 1993, Tool hit the road with the Rollins band and then released their very first full-length album 'Undertow.' This was much more melodic than their last release, included some very blistering tracks such as 'Prison Sex,' 'Sober,' and 'Disgustipated.' The cover of 'Undertow' was a stunning eerily ribcage sculpture, which was made by Adam Jones. The band played some early gigs on the Undertow tour, not so thrilled with entertaining; the foursome hit the stage with their Lollapalooza tour in 1993. Their electrifying live shows were truly dynamic and gave them enough encouragement to hit the main stage, which increased their exposure and helped to gain an ardent and dedicated following. In Aug, 1993, the band issued their video 'Sober' for their debut on MTV. It was a ground-breaking stop action piece, which was directed by Adam Jones. Eventually, this album went on to win the popular Billboard Video Awards for 'Best Clip,' 'Best New Artist.' With this success the band set off to conquer whole Europe with Rage against the Machine and Fishbone. After, this the band went through a bit slump and couldn't release their next album for the next three years. In, 1995, The band earned Best Special Effects nomination at the MTV Video Awards for their next Video 'Prison Sex.' In September of 1995, band went to Australia for the popular Alternative Nation Music Festival. Their new Album 'Enima' was released in Oct, 1996. Eventually Album went on to hit all the music charts and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album Chart. The band has grown both lyrically and musically with the release of their every album.
