Tommy Castro And The Painkillers Tickets for Sale

Born and brought up in San Jose, California, Tommy showed an inclination in learning to play the guitar at age ten. Initially he got into music for fun but gradually realized that he wanted a career in music. After the realization struck him, he was on the road almost for two years with The Dynatones. In 1991 he started the Tommy Castro Band, and they quickly rose to prominence in the Bay Area due to sheer hard work. The band's popularity rose steadily and in 1993 they were named ‘Club Band of the Year' at the Bay Area Music Awards in the write-in category. The following year too the band won the same award.

The band came out with their first major album ‘Exception to the Rule' on Blind Pig in 1996. The album got critical praise from all quarters. Grammy award winner Jim Gaines produced the follow up album ‘Can't Keep A Good Man Down' released in 1997. The album that had a mixture of blues, rhythm & blues and a dash of rock ‘n' roll too did exceptionally well. The songs from the album ruled the airwaves and following its success, Castro was featured on the cover of Blues Revue. The album not only appealed to blues fans but to fans of other genres too. The growing popularity of the band led to it being chosen by HBO Productions as the house band for NBC-TV's ‘Comedy Showcase'. The band became a part of the show for three successive seasons, which furthered its popularity. The popular band's music has also been used in network television programs like ‘Nash Bridges' and ‘The Young and the Restless'. In 1999, the band came out with yet another album ‘Right As Rain' which featured guest appearances by roots rock legends Dr. John and Delbert McClinton. As expected this album too did quite well. A year later the live album, ‘Live At The Fillmore' was released and the album ‘ Guilty of Love followed this, on fledgling 33rd Street Records label in 2001. In 2003, Tommy released ‘Gratitude' a tribute album on his own Heart and Soul label. Tommy Castro Band released yet another album ‘Soul Shaker' in 2005 which was followed by ‘Painkiller' in 2007.
