Tom Rush Tickets for Sale

Rush was born on February 8, 1941, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to a teacher's family. Tom Rush started his musical journey in the early '60s playing the Boston-area clubs while studying at Harvard. While nursing his fledgling musical career Rush majored in English literature. He used to enthrall and mesmerize patrons at the Club 47 coffeehouse in Cambridge and the Unicorn in Boston. Before graduating, Rush had already released two albums, which were well appreciated. A number of his earlier albums were his adaptation of Lowland Scots and Appalachian folk songs. In 1965 Rush signed a recording deal with Elektra and recorded three albums for them, the last one being ‘The Circle Game'.

Rush is widely recognized for ushering in the period of the singer/songwriter in the American music industry. He signed a recording deal with Columbia and was on the road with a five-man band, playing concerts all over the country. For five years he was busy doing promotional tours, interviews, television appearances, and recording sessions after which he took a much-needed break. Rush came back with a bang in 1981, selling out Boston's prestigious Symphony Hall in advance.

Apart from singing his own compositions, Rush has covered songs of Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, James Taylor and Murray McLauchlan. Rush's rendition of these artists helped them gain popularity early in their careers. His song ‘No Regrets' composed in 1968 has become an approved standard; with several cover versions having been recorded. In fact, Rush himself did two drastically different versions of the song. The Walker Brothers' version of the song gave Tom Rush, an overdue Top Ten exposure as a songwriter on the UK singles chart. The video for his song ‘The Remember Song' is one of the most popular videos on YouTube.

Tom Rush continues to tour and compose songs, fusing together the musical traditions and talents of present times.
