Spider-man
Spider-Man has made the transition from comic book to television to film, but is now set to open on Broadway. The musical will be entitled Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark. The production already has some impressive names attached to it. Bono and the Edge from U2 are writing original songs, Evan Rachel Wood is rumored to be cast as Mary Jane, and Julie Taymor, the director who brought the very successful Lion King musical to life, has been tapped to direct. Right now Spider-Man tickets are looking like they are well on their way to being more than just a hype fest.
The show will begin preview runs on January 16, 2010 with the official opening night coming on February 18, 2010 at the Hilton Theatre. Other cast includes choreographer Daniel Ezralow from Across the Universe, costume designer Eiko Ishioka from the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games and the Tony nominated M. Butterfly, set designer George Tsypin of the Magic Flute, light designer Donlad Holder of the Tony Award winning Lion King and South Pacific, sound engineer Jonathan Deans of the Beatles Love by Cirque du Soleil, and musical supervisor Teese Gohl from Across the Universe. This impressive collection of behind the scenes talent is a promising sign for the sale of Spider-Man tickets on Broadway.
