Show Biography - Slava Snowshow
The mainstay of the play Slava Polunin was born in a very small town in Russia. Far away from the reality of big cities he grew in a world of his own. He had the wildest fantasies that grew upon him amongst the forests, rivers and the wilderness of his childhood days. He later fell in love with the image of a clown and to be one became his pet dream. At the age of 17 he joined a mime studio. And thus began the story of the true clown of our times. He was Influenced by the all-time great artists such as Chaplin, Marcel Marceau, Engibarov. Another chapter opened in 1979, when he opened his own theater company. The rest, to quote a cliche, is history.
But for those interested in history Slava first took his theater to England in 1988. Five years down the line he gathered together the highlights of his repertoire resulting in Snowshow (formerly called Yellow). The show was hailed as a genius, winning him a Time Out Award. After the victory over London, he invaded North America with Cirque du Soleil's production of Alegrķa. His version continues to feature excerpts from Snowshow.He was honored with the Olivier Award for "Best Entertainment" following a sold-out run at the Old Vic, London in 1997. Snowshow has the Amazing distinction of having been seen in over 25 countries and by more than 1 million spectators.
