Lisa Halaby, born into a distinguished Arab-American family, was introduced to King Hussein on an airport runway while visiting her father in Jordan. After a secret whirlwind courtship, this Princeton graduate would become Noor Al Hussein, Queen of Jordan. Noor, meaning "light" in Arabic, would struggle amidst her new palace life as a mother of four and stepmother to eight, while creating a working role as a humanitarian activist. A devoted wife, Noor diligently stood by her husband through his quest for peace with Israel and all Arab nations, and his final battle with cancer.

These include: the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, the Petra National Trust, the Royal Society of Fine Arts, the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, the SOS Children's Village Association, the Queen Noor Technical College for Civil Aviation, the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, the Jordanian Physiotherapy Society, the Jordan Tennis Federation, and the Women's Sports Club.
