Peter Pan
Background- The story "Peter Pan" has been written by J. M. Barrie, who is a Scottish novelist and playwright. The original name of the book is "Peter Pan and Wendy". "Peter Pan" originally, is an adaptation of a stage play which is based on the same characters. Alternately, it was named as ‘‘The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up''. The play was first performed in Londonn, England in the year 1904, at the Duke of York Theater. Since then the play has become one of the most popular show among the children whole over the world. Since then it has become one of the most popular and widely performed, adapted children's stories in the world. The story is also regarded by many as one of the best-known work by Barrie. As an author he has established himself as a prolific author, writing in different genres. The play was critically acclaimed. The reason behind the never-diminishing-popularity of the play is that the author has very skilfully united fantasy and adventure in such a way, which was never done before. The story telling is done in such a way that it appeals to both the children and adults. While adults liked the craving of Peter Pan to remain a kid and enjoy every moment, children liked the imaginative story and fancy flights of the characters in Peter Pan.
According to Los Angeles Times, "Peter Pan" remains an enduring favorite for many reasons--perhaps most of all for its ability to turn back time. For, even as it laments the inevitability of growing older, it quietly reverses the aging process, transforming adults into kids who laugh, cry and, when the time comes, clap like crazy to save poor Tinkerbell".
