Ovo is the latest show from the worldwide dance, acrobatic, and circus troupe Cirque du Soleil. Ovo tickets take the audience into the world of insects in a small patch of the rainforest. They continue along their daily tasks until a mysterious egg arrives one day. The insects break from the routine and take heed of their incredible lives and begin to wonder about the unknown which the egg represents.
The show is the brainchild of Brazilian dancer and choreographer Deborah Colker. Colker is renown around the world for her work as a writer, dancer, and choreographer. She won the Lawrence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance in 2001 for her choreography in Mix, a show that played on the West End as part of the Barbican's Brazil festival.
Like much of Colker's previous work, Ovo draws from her Brazilian culture, relying on Brazilian beats to drive the show and interspersing traditional Brazilian dances with the normal visually-stunning circus arts that have made Cirque du Soleil such a force in live entertainment all over the globe. The music takes elements from samba, forro, carimbo, Rio funk, and samba-reggae. However, real insect sounds are also incorporated into the score and running ambient sound to truly make this feel like the rainforest floor.

The production company has broken down the barriers between different circus arts around the world and now have broken down that very simple one based on gender.
