Mame
‘Mame' centers around the life of Mame Dennis, a rich and eccentric woman who loves to host lavish parties and lives a glitzy life. Her big house is always filled with people who enjoy drinking very hard and party like mad. Owing to this attribute of Mame's character, audience gets to see some spectacular scenes in the beginning of the play. Her life, however, changes with the great stock market crash. The extravagant parties come to an end. Mame's life undergoes further change when she takes in to her apartment, her 10-year-old nephew, Patrick, who loses his parents, and has no one in the world but his nanny, Agnes. Her lavish lifestyle and eccentricities notwithstanding, Mame is an extremely loving person at the core of her heart, and she makes all out efforts to give her nephew a good life. She is helped out of her financial troubles by a plantation owner, whom she eventually marries. But Mame's woes don't end with it. She is soon widowed. In spite of all the troubles, she exhibits great strength of character, fights the odd winds with some help from her friend Vera Charles and moves on with life giving Patrick a nice upbringing. He grows up into a nice young man and falls in love. Through some fabulous dance and song sequences, the play sprightly moves on to an interesting climax, always keeping the audience completely engrossed.
