The four agents and the supervisor work together for selling undesirable real estate at high prices. The time in the play is end of a month. The bosses of the company Mitch and Murray have announced a 'sales contest'. According to the contest a salesman who is able to clear a certain high dollar amount will be the winner of a Cadillac while the two salesman with worst figures will be fired. Roma is salesperson with best figures while the other three are feeling the heat.

Glengarry Glen Ross was first played on 21st September, 1983 in London at the at the Cottlesloe Theatre of the Royal National Theater. The roles were played by Derek Newark as Shelly Levene, Trevor Ray as Dave Moss,
John Tams as Baylen, .James Grant as George Aaronow, Jack Shepherd as Richard Roma, Tony Haygarth as James Lingk and Karl Johnson as John Williamson.
In the United States of America, Glengarry Glen Ross was first performed at Goodman Theatre of the Arts Institute of Chicago on 6th February, 1986. . It was production of Chicago Theatre Groups. On 25th March 1984 it was performed on Broadway at the John Golden Theater. The play was directed by Gregory Mosher. The play was nominated for many categories of Tony Award including for the director Gregory Mosher. Joe Mantegna who played role of Richard Roma won the Best Featured Actor Award.

Glengarry Glen Ross was revived on 1st March, 2005 on Broadway. The play was presented at the Bernard B Jacobs Theatre with Joe Mantello directing the play. The cast included Shelly Levine by Alan Alda
Dave Moss by Gordon Clapp, James Lingk by Tom Wopat, John Williamson by Frederick Weller, Baylen by Jordan Lage and George Aaronow by Jeffrey Tambor. This revival also received many Tony Award nominations. Alda and Clapp were nominated for the Best Featured Actor category and was won by Schreiber. It won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play.

Glengarry Glen Ross is most noted for the flow of convincing patter of salesman. The salesman are seen spending most of the time convincing the customers and the office manager. They also spend much time among themselves for many reasons like for gaining access to valuable sales leads, down payments for real estate and also co-operation in conspiracies. The play also has some foul languages with use of the word 'fuck' for about 150 times. But Glengarry Glen Ross has always been loved by the audience.

The BBC Radio 3 aired the play with cast consisting of Alfred Molina, Hector Elizondo, Bruce Davison and Stacy Keach. It was first aired on 20th March, 2005. The play has also been produced as a award winning film " Glen Ross". It was starred by Alec Baldwin, Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alan Arkin, Kevin Spacey, Jonathan Pryce and Ed Harris.
