Dirty Dancing
The acclaimed cast of the record-breaking London production of Dirty Dancing will present the musical in the United States. The eagerly - awaited show will be directed by James Powell, produced by Kevin Jacobsen and choreographed by Kate Champion. The brilliant cast also includes Stephen Brimson Lewis as the set designer; Jennifer Irwin would be designing costumes, also includes Tim Mitchell, Bobby Aitken, Jon Driscoll, Craig Wilson, and Conrad Helfrich who will serve as the musical supervisor.
While writing it for stage, writer and creator Eleanor Bergstein has added, more Baby and Johnny scenes, more about the family, additional songs that are not included in the movie, and, most exciting of all, more dancing. The musical proved a big success in Australia and New Zealand, and broke box office records when it featured in Hamburg, Germany. After Hamburg it came to London's West End, breaking all records of the theatrical history. In 2006 it opened at the Aldwych Theater with high sales record that has been maintained till date. The production in London received outstanding reviews from the UK critics. While in Toronto it has made box office records in advance sales at the Royal Alexandra Theater. And it is for sure that it would be well received by American audiences as audiences throughout the world.
Synopsis
Dirty Dancing features a love story that revolves around the talented dancer Johnny Castle and Frances 'Baby' Houseman. In 1963, 'Baby' Houseman, a 17-year-old goes for a summer vacation with her family at a resort hotel in the Catskills; she decides on being in the Peace Corps next summer, so this is anticipated to be her last summer as a carefree adolescent. One night she comes across a handsome guy, Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze). Gradually they fall in love, learning life-changing lessons along the way. Dirty Dancing involves all about the highs and lows of their summer romance. The original story of Dirty Dancing has been elaborated for the stage. While the brilliant scenes of the film have been included. In the stage production, Baby and Johnny's relationship is developed further; there is more sensational dancing; and, more music. It also features the Academy Award-winning song, The Time Of My Life,' 'Hungry Eyes,' 'Hey Baby' and 'Do You Love Me?'.

The international stage hit, Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage will premiere in the U.S. on September 2, 2008 at Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theater. This widely renowned musical that was a blockbuster movie by Eleanor Bergstein will be featured as part of the Broadway In Chicago Season Series. The production is an effort made by Jacobean Entertainment, in association with Lionsgate and Magic Hour Productions.
The National Tour will be followed by several tour dates. Making a record breaking, sellout premiere in Australia and New Zealand, Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story On Stage is presently been staged to sold-out houses in London's West End and Hamburg, Germany. A production is set to open in Toronto this November, which is already setting sales records in Canada.
