The Fox Theater holds the recognition for being the largest indoor venue for Opera in the US. Another achievement for the Atlanta Opera was in 1997 when they reached $1 million mark in ticket sales in a single season. It was the first time the opera had reached this mark in its history.
The Atlanta took its official residence in 1998 when it shifted to The Atlanta Opera Center. In May, 2001 the Opera held the 31st Annual Opera America Conference. The Opera celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2004. The company also hired Dennis Hanthorn as General Director to take charge of the artistic and administrative business.
