A wonderful Life is a beautiful and inspirational musical by Sheldon Harnick who has adapted this musical from Frank Capra's classic film "It's a Wonderful Life". A wonderful Life is a sentimental and emotional musical by Tony Award winner Harnick along with Emmy winner Joe Raposo. The musical is about a man George Bailey, who has tired from the struggle of life and try to commit suicide on a Christmas Eve. He is a small town banker having high ambitions and big dreams that never came true. As time passed, George sacrificed all his dreams and aspirations after his loved ones. At the time when he faced the most annihilating moment in his life, he contemplates suicide. At this time, he is saved by Clarence, an angel who is determined to save this man and show him the right way to life and success. He raised his ambitions again made made him realize that life is wonderful and one gets life or once only. He makes him aware of his happiness that he was having with him only. This impressive production by Harnick makes us recall the beloved movie " It's a wonderful Life".
The first act of musical starts with George's prayer to God asking Guidance in his life as he tries to commit suicide on the Christmas evening. In the meantime, an apprentice angel, Clarence is informed by Joseph ( a high ranking angel) that he will be promoted to first class if he guides this man the right way to life and his ambitions. He tells him the six most important days of George's life to set him up for his hard task. The first incidence is about his trip to Europe when his father wishes him to work with his father after the trip. The song "This Year, Europe" follows this scene. He refused and leaves for his brother Harry's graduation dance. He meets Mary Hatch in the Dance and falls in love with her. Here the song "A Wonderful Life" follows the scene. Their love and the magical moments were destroyed by his father's stroke that canceled his trip.

Next scene is about the process of dissolution of his company by Potter and other board members after his elder brother's death. But at right time, George takes over as Executive Director in his father's stead when the board set the condition before him. All his dreams were undermined this time. The next shock in George's life was given by his younger brother Harry who completed his education and denied to help or replace his brother in business. Depressed George bumps into Mary and the moments turned into their nuptials. Here the song "Not What I Expected" followed the scene. Before this couple could start their newly married life, they were shot by the money back demands of the investors. George gives away his honeymoon money to resolve the problem. Amazed Mary by his husband's selflessness, holds a modest but lovely honeymoon in their hometown only.
Second Act of the musical starts with the celebrations of his thirtieth birthday and then the celebrations of Martini family's home acquisition. The song "When You Own Your Own Home" is sung in this scene. But this beautiful atmosphere is corrupted by Potter, who offers George $20,000 a year to join his company . The offer was rejected by George and he comes depressed at home. He was informed lovingly by Mary about her pregnancy. Now the presence situation comes when everybody is preparing to welcome Harry , a War hero. Sadly, George's uncle, Billy, missed a an amount of $ 8000. Agitated and angered George comes back to home and misbehaved with his little children who ere happily preparing for the Christmas song. This time, George tries to borrow from Potter but denied badly. Completely depressed and tired by all his failures of his life, George tries to commit suicide. All of a sudden, Clarence appears and saves his life. He makes George realize the value if his life, his assets, his wife, his children. He gives him another news that town has collected money for George to pacify his financial problems. The scene is of a town gathering now, at the Bailey home for a jovial celebration in the spirit of Christmas, giving, and full of life. The beautiful song "Christmas Gifts-Reprise" ends the musical.
