The Broadway show debuted on October 30, 2003 starring Kristen Chenoweth as Glinda, Idina Menzel as Elphaba, and Joel Grey as the wizard. The show took the United States by storm, playing to rave reviews in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago and setting the record for the biggest opening in the West End in London. Since then, Wicked has begun to sell tickets around the world and around the country as the show has crossed over to Japan and been on two national tours. Another national tour is in the works and the production is coming to an end in Chicago by the beginning of 2009.
