Talking about the plot, this play is a modern-day prince-and-pauper tale revolving around twins born into an impoverished Liverpool family. Eluded by her husband and also unable to cope up with her many children she decides to give one of her children to a wealthy employer. As time passes they both grow up in different places and finally meet to become best friends, until their bonding is hampered by a tragic end. Despite the end being tragic and shocking, people were so hooked on to watching this play, that they generally hounded the ticket counters just to ensure that got their places secured in order to enjoy this gripping tale.

The story revolves around twins, Mickey and Eddie who are the central characters of the play. Born into an impoverished and oversized Liverpool family and being unable to be brought up by their mother who had been deserted by her husband, their mother gives one of the twins to the wife of her wealthy employer, Mrs. Lyons. Mickey and Eddie generally live with their biological mother, Mrs. Johnstone. But finding it really difficult to keep both the kids she decides to give Eddie to Mrs. Lyons. Years later, the brothers meet and become inseparable friends, but their relationship is doomed to end tragically. Both the children live completely different lives and are almost opposite to each other. Divided into two acts this play grips up when they both meet each other and gel to become the best of friends.
The first act is filled with light moments, laughs and also showcases the carefree world of childhood. The first act is usually dedicated to the exploration of various topics such as class and economic relations, superstition and various heart-wrenching moments. However, Act II marks the starting of some serious stuff with a dark and tense plot. The story seems to be bit cliché but the acting and presentation makes the play more gripping which makes one all the more anxious to know the climax of the play. The climax is so shocking that it will really send a chill run down your spine and nobody can ever expect such an ending to this play. Majority of the people find the play more interesting mainly because of the climax.
