Artist Biography - The Plimsouls
|
The band started by guitarist and songwriter Peter Case, apart from him also included guitarist Eddie Munoz, bassist David Pahoa and drummer Lou Ramirez. The Plimsouls, amalgamated roots, retro and guitar rock with dilapidated punk aesthetic to rock the world. The band came out with their maiden EP 'Zero Hour' in 1980, which was followed by an eponymous album 'The Plimsouls' a year later. The album spawned hits like 'Zero Hour' and 'Hush, Hush'. Many thought the band to be a one album or one song wonder; however, the band shut their mouths with their single 'A Million Miles Away' that was included in the Valley Girl motion picture soundtrack. The song became a minor hit and the band was elevated into an altogether different plane. The band was also featured in the movie, performing the song and parts of two others.
The song eventually became a timeless classic. The band re-recorded the song and included it on their second album 'Everywhere At Once', produced by Jeff Eyrich for Geffen records. However, the band and the label company separated soon after the release of the album. In 1988, the band released the CD 'One Night in America' which showcased their live performance. After the break up with the label, the band too broke up and Case embarked on a solo career. Case in fact recorded solos for Geffen records, while the remaining band members took on day jobs and different other musical projects. In 1995-96, the band, without Ramirez, made an attempt to re group; they played a few get-together dates with previous Blondie drummer Clem Burke. The band also came out with the LP 'Kool Trash' in 1998. Since then, the band has been reuniting sporadically.
