Artist Biography - The Paybacks
|
The band was started in 1999 by former members of veteran Detroit rock acts Rocket 455, Ten High and The Hentchmen. The band comprised of singer/guitarist Wendy Case, drummer Pat Pantano, bassist Marc Watt, and guitarist Marco Delicato. However, soon after formation Pantano and Watt quit the band and were replaced by drummer Mike Latulippe and bassist John Szymanski. After solidifying the lineup, the band began performing live shows. The band slowly and steadily began establishing their fan base, they were catapulted to international limelight when their track 'Black Girl' opened the 2001 Jack White recorded and produced collection 'The Sypathetic Sounds of Detroit'. In 2002, the band came out with their first full-length album 'Knock Loud' on Get Hip Records. The album was well accepted both by fans as well as critics. After the release of the album, the band embarked on an intensive tour to promote the same. In 2004, the band came out with yet another album 'Harder and Harder', which could replicate the success of its predecessor. As always, after the release of the album the band hit the road in support of the same. The band after the popularity of their previous albums got opportunities to score for films and televisions. The ABC's 2004 broadcast of the Academy Awards, started with the Paybacks' number 'Hollywood'. The band also performed live for two nights on NBC's 'Last Call with Carson Daly'. The band known for their big arena rock riffs, emotionally charged lyrics and an explosive live show came out with their third album 'Love, Not Reason' on Savage Jams records in 2006. The new album explores and discloses some naked truths about love and its many joyful, painful, heady and bewildering appearances the highest highs, the lowest lows and all the agonizing, perplexing parts in the middle.
