The Flesh Eaters, a Los Angeles punk band ruled the airwaves towards the end of 1970s and the beginning of 80's. The band's music, which was a potpourri of rockabilly, road-house blues, punk rock and jazz was able to establish a large fan following.

Chris Desjardins, a singer known for morbid lyrical themes in 1977, formed the band. The band played its maiden gig at the The Masque in Los Angeles that was well appreciated. Stan Ridgway (Wall of Voodoo), John Doe (X), DJ Bonebrake (X), Dave Alvin (The Blasters), Bill Bateman (The Blasters) and Steve Berlin (The Blasters, Los Lobos) all have been a part of The Flesh Eaters at one point of time or the other.
The band has broken up and reformed quite a number of times; it first broke up in 1983. After the break up Desjardin formed a new band ‘The Divine Horsemen' and played in it till 1988. In 1989 Desjardins and his erstwhile group Stone-By-Stone recorded an LP, after which the groups name was changed into The Flesh Eaters. The reincarnated band performed on the west coast, and recorded two albums, after which it broke up. Since then, Desjardins has played sporadically with an array of musicians under this name.

The latest Flesh Eaters album ‘Miss Muerte' was issued in 2004 on Atavistic Records. The record company also re-released the band's ‘No Questions Asked' & ‘Hard Road to Follow'. In the beginning of 2006, it was announced that the original Flesh Eaters would play a series of live shows. It's interesting to note that this particular lineup of The Flesh Eaters had not played together since the spring of 1981. The regrouped line up was scheduled to perform three dates in California and one date in England at the All Tomorrows Party Festival. Meanwhile Desjardins released a solo semi-acoustic LP on the French New Rose label, "Divine Horseman", which was also released in Australia by Dog Meat Records of Melbourne. The LP had many of Desjardins' old friends like Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Linda "Tex" Jones and Dave Alvin as guest musicians.
