Artist Biography - The Fixx

 The Fixx was started in 1980 by two college friends Cy Curnin (vocals) and Adam Woods (drums). In order to further solidify the lineup, the duo placed an ad for additional members. Subsequently, Jamie West-Oram (guitar), Rupert Greenall (keyboards) and Charlie Barret (bass) were recruited. The band saw a change in the lineup just after recording their debut album, Barret quit the band and was replaced by Alfie Agius. The maiden album ‘Shuttered Room' was released in 1982. The album managed to do quite well in the US, in spite of the fact that it was not marketed properly. A year later the band came out with their second effort ‘Reach the Beach' which spawned the hit ‘Saved by Zero', and ‘One Thing Leads to Another'. While recording the album Alfie Agius quit the band and was replaced by Dan K. Brown. The hit number ‘Saved by Zero' featured Agius' bass work. The band released many successful albums like Phantoms (1984), Walkabout (1986), React (live album), Calm Animals (1988), Ink (1991) and many more.
The band has given hit songs like ‘One Thing Leads To Another', ‘Red Skies', ‘Stand or Fall, Saved by Zero, Sign of Fire, Are We Ourselves?' ‘Secret Separation, ‘Driven Out', ‘How Much Is Enough?' and Deeper and Deeper.
After fading away for some time, the band emerged back into the music world; in fact the band celebrated its 25th anniversary that is a rare occurrence. Apart from old guns Curnin, West-Oram, Greenall and Woods, bassist Gary Tibbs makes up the lineup. The band enjoyed great success in the US and Canada but ironically remained unknown in their country of origin.
The albums like Versions (2000), Happy Landings and Lost Tracks (2001), Stand or Fall (2004) and others released in the new millennium have been well accepted by their fans.
To commemorate their 25th anniversary the band released the album ‘Twentyfifth Anniversary Anthology' in 2005. The band that has seen lots of ups and downs in its long career still enthralls its dedicated fans with their amazing music.
