The Drifters is one of the longest running American doo wop/R&B band in pop history. The band was originally founded by Clyde McPhatter in 1953. Since its inception, the band has attained huge renown and still performing live and relishing more than 50 hits world-wide. The group has undergone many changes in its line up since 1953. He is notable for his performance in Michael Jackson's dancing group in the film "Moonwalker". Patrick has been very famous and earned a very successful career in TV, dance and choreography. While enjoying so much of success, he found his lost love for singing and decided to pursue it further. In 1990, Patrick got an invitation from The Drifters to join them in vocals. He couldn't resist himself for performing with one of his musical heroes, the legendary Johnny Moore. He says, "Working with Johnny was amazing and I learned so much!"
Artist Biography - The Drifters
Rohan Turney entered the band in early 1991. Rohan have been in high demand for his contribution as a backing vocalist for many famous artistes. He performed with The Drifters in a live TV broadcast from Holland. He was shocked to find such a massive response and craze for the band and its show as the audience were over 40 million across whole of Europe. Once got engaged with The Drifters and sensing its initial nerves, he did his wonderful job by singing a fabulous version of "Save The Last Dance" and made the audience to go crazy after his voice.
Victor Byone has joined the band in 2002 and welcomed as the newcomer by The Drifters. Victor possess a multi-talented personality with great skills as a singer, songwriter, performer and record producer. He has supported the lead vocalist Dury Lane in the stage production "Big Time" at the Talk Of London. He has worked with production company Mass Music and Roc Steadi Records. He has represented the UK in Sweden in 2000 in the Eurovision Song Contest with Nikki French.
Peter Lamarr was honored to be a member of The Drifters in 1990. He has been a great fan of Johnny Moore's since his childhood. "It was an honor and privilege to work with a man who has virtually set the vocal standard for his time. I felt blessed to be a part of such musical history". He has been a actor too and appeared in many TV Serials and films. He is a writer and producer as well as performs on many movie soundtracks. He is to busy to lose his opportunity to be a part of tours for 2 years. In 1994, he was again able to join The Drifters and add his amazing vocal talent to make the band's performance fabulous.
Few of the latest notable albums by the band include "The Very Best of the Drifters" in 1986, "Drifters Christmas" in 1998, "The Definitive Drifters" in 2003. They performed before a crazy and energetic crowd of more than 8,000 at the Dartford Festival on 22 July. The CD "THE DRIFTERS - THE LEGACY CONTINUES" containing all the great hits by band with their mentor Johny Moore is announced in late July this year. The band has released its very first DVD "The Drifters Live" on 25th Sept 2006.
