Derek Truck has been a prime motivator towards his other band members. He still likes to play guitar without any cosmetic influence. His illustrious musical career began very early at the age of nine when he started playing an acoustic guitar. After learning music from his father, Derek started by playing with other musicians around his hometown. His early repertoire consisted of tunes which were heavily blues-based. Much was this due to the fact that he was obviously inspired quite deeply by The Allman Brothers Band where his uncle, the talented drummer Butch Trucks, was one of the founding members. Soon Derek's popularity soared and music became his life's pursuit. This passion for music in general and guitar in particular eventually resulted in Derek being placed as the youngest guitar player to make to the highly acclaimed Rolling Stone's illustrious "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list.
