Artist Biography - The Carolina Opry
|
The Carolina Opry, a renowned musical variety show of America, takes place each year at the Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. It was Calvin Gilmore, a famous musical artist and entrepreneur, who commenced this show. Generally, this show occurs at night on all weekdays. On some special occasions, only the matinee show is held on Saturday. In each year, starting from November up to the end of December, 'The Carolina Opry' has a seasonal Christmas special running.
In 1986, 'The Carolina Opry' took place for the first time at the Surfside Beach in South Carolina. The original venue, a 1000 seating theatre hall, is situated just one block away from the Main Street of the Surfside Beach. These two hours award-winning shows had an excellent blend of critically acclaimed music, comedy and dance – from Country to Broadway, from Rock'n roll to Classic pop and from Bluegrass to Gospel. As the first show started to sell out nightly, the second show began at the North Myrtle Beach in South Carolina as 'The Dixie Jubilee'. Both the shows commenced to sell out nightly. It was 1993, when the show came to be familiar as 'The Carolina Opry', and took place in a theatre hall of 2200 seats, situated at the intersection of 'Highway 17 Business' and 'Highway 17 Bypass' in Myrtle Beach.
