The Black Keys
The Black Keys are a two-man blues rock group from Akron, Ohio. The two members are namely singer and guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney
They duo released their first album, "The Big Come Up," in 2002. The uniqueness of their music lies in the fact that the only instrumentation they use is Auerbach's guitar, Carney's drums, and the occasional organ. Auerbach has a fine, mature blues voice. The group's material has influences from the likes of Jimi Hendrix and James Brown. Before the year's end, the band inked a deal with Fat Possum. The Black Keys' second album, "Thickfreakness," was recorded in 14 straight hours in one day. To prepare for its April 2003 release, the duo performed as an opening act for Sleater-Kinney in their winter tour of North America. The duo released Rubber Factory in 2004. October 2005 saw the release of the DVD Live, recorded live at The Metro Theater in Sydney, Australia on March 18, 2005.
The Black Keys have also been included in the soundtrack of the 2003 movie "School of Rock" with their song, "Set You Free."
