Teitur began his musical journey with the Faroese pop/rock band 'Mark No Limits' as their lead singer and songwriter. Within no time he had a huge fan following at home and at the age of 17 he moved to Copenhagen. He found success composing and singing English songs. Soon, he attracted the attention of major labels and signed a recording deal with Universal Records. In 2003 he released his first major album 'Poetry & Aeroplanes' which became an instant hit. The success of his maiden album fetched him opening slots on tours with Suzanne Vega, Glen Phillips, Aimee Mann, and John Mayer. MTV's You Heard it First program had featured Teitur and his songs were aired on MTV. Even though his songs from the first album were not picked up by radio, many of the songs were aired on major television and motion picture soundtracks. The 2006 films Aquamarine and My Super Ex-Girlfriend had music from Teitur's first album.

In 2004 he was awarded the 'Businessman of the Year' by the Faroe Islands.
However the success of the critically acclaimed debut album was cut short, as it did not find industry support. The sales of the album were nothing much to talk about and in order to boost it, Teitur played over 300 shows in the year following his debut.
On April 20, 2006, Teitur parted ways with his label company due to months of legal problems and creative differences. A month after parting ways with the company, Teitur's second effort 'Stay Under the Stars', produced by Martin Terefe, was released. The album that was initially released on the indie label Playground Music became a hit. It charted the Danish Top-40 chart, after which it was released in the U.S. and Canada on September 5, 2006 on the newly formed Equator Records. After releasing a Faroese language album 'Káta Horni?' in 2007, Teitur hit the road in support of it. It was announced that Teitur has started working on his next English album that is scheduled for release in 2008.
