Sunset Rubdown was started by Spencer Krug as a solo project. It is an indie rock band in Montreal, Canada. Spencer Krug was earlier a part of the band Wold Parade. After playing some time with the band, he decided that it was time to do his own solo project. He named his own solo project as the Sunset Rubdown. He released his debut album Snake's Got a Leg in the year 2005, on July. Later, his group expanded. What started as a solo project turned out to be a group project, that expanded to include Camilla Wynn Ingr from the band Pony Up!, Jordan Robson-Cramer from XY Lover as well as Michael Doerksen. The new band released their first collaborative effort, Shut Up I Am Dreaming, the band's second LP in the year 2006, on May.

Spencer Krug was a singer, songwriter and keyboardist for the indie rock band Wolf. At present he is the member of his project band Sunset Rubdown. He was born and was also raised in Pentiicton, British Columbia. From childhood onwards, he was interested in rock. As he grew up, his desire only increased. So he moved to Victoria in British Columbia. There he became the founding member of the indie rock band Frog Eyes. He was also invited to collaborate with the Vancouver singer and songwriter Dan Bejar, in his band Destroyer. After playing for some time he moved on to Montreal, Quebec, where he formed Wolf Parade. He then invited fellow songwriter and singer Dan Boeckner, in April in the year 2003. In the same year, Wolf Parade did its first show that opened for the Arcade Fire in 2003. In 2005, he left the band Wold Parade to start his own career as a solo artist. He released his first solo self-recorded Sunset Rubdown album Snakes Got a Leg. Wolf Parade requested Krug to be a part of their album. Apologies to the Queen Mary, the debut album of Wolf Parade was produced by Modest Mouse frontman Issac Brock. The album was released on Seattle indie label Sub Pop in the year 2005. Originally, Sunset Rubdown was a solo project of Krug, but it expanded in the fall of 2005 as well as in the spring of 2006, with new musicians from other bands joining in. In the spring of 2006, Krug was asked to rejoin as keyboardist in Frog Eyes in the spring of 2006. He has also recorded material for the famous band Swan Lake alongside Destroyer's Dan Bejar and Frog Eyes' Carey Mercer, which is also an indie rock.
