Subzero
Most of the new songs are of a darker and aggressive nature than earlier SUBZERO recordings. They were influenced by the signs of the times, which we are now living in. The lyrics deal with issues ranging from morbid, but realistic topics such as terrorism, biological and nuclear war threat, fighting to maintain our freedoms and integrity during these times of crisis, drug abuse, suicide, cancer, rape and religious hypocrisy to more positive influential such as the will to overcome strife and achieve any goal, bravery, integrity, family, respect and honor. This is what genuine hardcore music is about. It's about dealing with the true life issues that surround us in our day to day lives. Like the lyrics in the classic CRO-MAGS "Age Of Quarrel" record read - "These Are The Signs Of The Times".
And so times have changed over the years and along the way old styles have progressed and some new styles have been added to their music, but the fact is that SUBZERO, unlike many, have survived through out the years managing to remain loyal to their hardcore roots and family by sticking to their beliefs and by maintaining the honest morals and values of the true underground music scene.

Artist Biography - Subzero
|
SUBZERO was established in New York City several years ago in 1989-1990 and since then they've developed into one of New York's most promising and powerful hardcore metal bands. Their music is characterized by sharp penetrating guitar chords and thick low end basslines that hook together cohesively with aggressive at-times "melodic" vocals. Metal Maniacs Magazine quotes "...SUBZERO are one of the most significant forces to be reckoned with in NYHC..."
Their debut full-length on Century Media Records entitled "Happiness Without Peace" has earned them slots on shows, festivals and tours all over the world with acts ranging from SICK OF IT ALL to SLAYER. SUBZERO's material possesses the versatility to incite devotees of everything, from the brutal metalcore clan led by HATEBREED and SWORN ENEMY to the more traditional street edged styles of MADBALL, BIOHAZARD and SICK OF IT ALL right down the line to the street punk style of bands like RANCID and the latter day SHEER TERROR. On the way for early 2003 are both, a new full-length released on Century Media Records and a mini-CD EP coming off the soon to be dominating Stillborn Records label (owned by Jamey Jasta of HATEBREED), about to hit the streets. The forthcoming EP will be entitled "Black Snow", which is referring to the fiery ashes descending upon NYC during the time of the attacks on September 11th 2001.
